The road to Stalin’s rise to power started with the Bolshevik Party, which was a Russian social democratic worker’s party initially led by Vladimir Lenin. The Bolshevik Party soon started gaining power very rapidly and soon went on to grasp control of the Russian government and eventually went on to overthrow the Russian government entirely in 1917. This was due to the party believing that the sole problem in Russia was the government and how they were responsible for extreme unemployment, food shortages, failing economy and so forth. Stalin then seized Lenin’s position after Lenin passed away and gained the power he required to escalate and ultimately become the leader of the Soviet Union. Stalin then built the once Russian Empire into a communist state and initiated a confederation of the following countries: Russia, Ukraine, Armenian Republic, Azerbaijan and Belorussia. After a few years, Stalin had successfully constructed the USSR into a worldwide superpower that was feared by other fellow superpowers. The USSR was initially believed to have formed in 1917 but Joseph Stalin enforced it further and adapted it to make it the superpower it once was. Stalin helped the USSR evolved but also reflected his harsh impact on the Russian citizens in his reign, eventually forming himself into one of the most infamous murderers of mankind, with an estimated 60 million murders connected to Stalin. The USSR suffered under the reign of Stalin as he enforced and placed labor camps, which he thought was important as he needed to decrease the populations by setting out mass murders and labor camps to have to worry about spreading wealth to less people and feeding less people. He began to eradicated whole villages to make the idea of communism spread easily and to satisfy and cater less people. Due to this eradication system, it made it easier for Stalin to upgrade and work on the USSR’s attributes that make it a superpower. Such as advanced weaponry, developed industries and appreciable trade. Evidence of this is the USSR’s success in defeating the Axis in World War II while still remaining a superpower at the end of the war. Also, the ability to get a hold of nuclear weapons would not have been an achievement for the USSR if it was not for Stalin and his efforts.
