The Bay of pigs was invasion led by the CIA it had a certain unit responsible for the invasion, unit 2506. This unit was trained well by the united states CIA and it was ready for the invasion. When they arrived at the shores of Cuba they realised that it is not an easy job to do. After fighting and killing people it took the Cuban forces 3 days to dominate unit 2506. The United states failed a big failure and that is writing in history. This wasn’t expect to happen and the Cubans fought as hard as they could because they were communist and the capitalist U.S attacked them.
Who were the significant figures of the Invasion of bay of pigs?
John F. Kennedy, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro
Where did the conflict take place?
Cuba
Who were the groups involved in the conflict?
Cubans
U.S
USSR
What were the perspectives of each respective group involved in the bay of pigs?
U.S.A: The United States wanted to get rid of Fidel Castro because we was a communist leader and he was close to the United States this made the United States in danger of any close attack of the cuban army. Kennedy needed to get rid of Castro because he can’t live with this enemy that is beside him and has Russian missiles and help from them if he needed any.
Fidel Castro: Castro got power when the U.S were buying from him the cuban sugar and he became the most powerful guy in Cuba. The US stopped buying sugar from Castro, So Castro went to the USSR to ask for help and the helped him and told him that they would buy from him sugar with 1 million dollars every year and Castro wanted revenge from the U.S so he became a communist.
USSR: In the cold war USSR were trying to expand and influence other countries to become communist and not capitalist like the U.S. So this opportunity was one of the best, Cuba is close to the U.S so the USSR didn’t leave this chance and they started sending ammo and help for the Cubans but they needed to become communist.
What were the motivations?
The U.S were trying to stop Fidel Castro from leading the cubans and making them communist. Russia were trying to spread communism in south america that would cause danger for the United States. Kennedy put all hope on the CIA and that they would know how to deal with this kind of situation. Castro was willing to help the USSR because when he was losing power in Cuba the USSR helped by buying from his business.
What did each side try to achieve:
U.S: The U.S tried to remove communist rulers that are beside them and all around the world. This country had a different case, Once it was an ally and a friendly country with the U.S but after the Castro took power U.S stopped aiding this country (Cuba). It became an ally of the USSR and it was close to the U.S. The U.S wanted to take out the danger they were in so they invaded Cuba. USSR: The USSR had a different scenario they tried to help the Cubans because on the map Cuba’s place is beside the U.S and making an ally that is beside the country you're fighting could change the results of the war. The USSR helped Cuba by buying sugar and sending missiles to make the U.S feel that they are in danger of an attack anytime.
What were the end results?
It was a big embarrassment for the U.S because with the high technology, resource and weapons they failed to invade Cuba. The Bay of pigs ended up with a draw because U.S were trying to get in and Cubans were helped by the USSR and it was a chaos. Both of the sides agreed on terms, the U.S agreed that they won’t Invade Cuba again and that they would stop sending missiles to Turkey. The USSR agreed on that they won’t send missiles to Cuba again. There wasn’t a lot of deaths on the both sides, for the U.S 118 were killed and 360 were wounded and 1202 were captured. For the Cuban forces 176 were killed and 500 were wounded and 4000 were missing.
