The Berlin Wall: The Berlin wall was built by the government in 1961. Till 1961 East German were allowed to travel to West Berlin, But as the people in east of Germany was moving to the west side because they didn’t want to be under the communism which was the U.S.S.R, Soviet Union realised the amount of people that are to the western side, they tried to stop them from leaving but it wasn’t that hard to move to the western side since it is controlled by the four allied countries. Once Germany was divided into two different sides, the wall was created by the east side to avoid and separate its people to go to the western side. The Berlin fell on 1989, as the president of United states asked Russian President to break the wall down. It was the time when the U.S.S.R was falling down, they were losing their side of the western Germany, after the wall fell, people could now finally be free to move across eastern and western Germany, and that was when Germany was finally a individual country.
How does it contribute to the cold war: Berlin was the major point of the Cold War. At the end of World War II, the city of Berlin was divided into four different parts, which is the four allied armies, U.S, Soviet Union, British, and the French. Berlin wall didn’t just separated the East and the West but obviously separated the democratic countries and the communist countries during the Cold war. Where is Berlin on the map & why is this location was strategic for both the U.S & U.S.S.R: Berlin is know obviously located in northern side of Germany. Berlin was located mostly inside the Soviet Union during the Cold war, and on the maps Easter and the Western side of Berlin did not present as a neighbouring civil. Berlin during the cold war was located between four different allies, the western side of Germany was controlled by the U.S, British and the french, and the eastern side was controlled by the Soviet Union, and Berlin was basically in the middle. The location of Berlin was strategic for both U.S and the U.S.S.R because, The U.S and the soviet union were not allies but had a common enemy which was obviously the Germans, since the Germans took over Poland and part of France their getting even closer to the Soviet Union, as the U.S attacked Germany to protect their allies this helped the Soviet Union a lot as it was distancing the german. The location of Berlin helped the soviet union and the u.s a lot as it was strategic, because berlin was in the middle between the west and the east, and since the u.s and the u.s.s.r allied together their were closing on the Germans.
A historical event that happened:The most historical event is in the beginning when it all started and how it all started, that many people moved from east to west more that 20,000 people moved, so the Soviet Union decided to make a wall between The West and the East to stop people from moving. Another historical event was the fall when the Eastern and Western were finally on part after what happened between the Soviet Union and the East with the U.S, British and french Western side, when people from the east side moved to the west side because they didn’t want to be controlled by communism, but then the U.S.S.R made a wall to separate them from leaving. The fall of the wall in November 2, 198, it collapsed because they basically wanted peace and that the soviet union had collapsed, a lot of people from the East lost their families in the western side, and many people got killed by trying to escape, and when the Soviet Union collapsed this is when the U.S demanded the U.S.S.R to bring down the wall.
Any impacts this event had on the lives of the people in the nations involved:The impact on people's lives was massive, as many had suffered living without members of their family as they were in the western side or the eastern side, and many got killed trying to escape the wall, this had a huge impact and had to stop, since the Soviet Union was slowly collapsing the U.S took advantage and asked the U.S.S.R to finally bring down the wall in 1989.
